Same, Kid.

I had the strangest student in my class this year. Ever. Since my career began. Let's leave it at that.

I was monitoring his test in the computer lab, and standing near him to make sure he was on task.

He turns to me and says, "Teacher, you're watching me, and it's freaking me out!"

It's about time that phrase went the other way.

Time

My team teacher gave the following assignment: "I want to tell about a time. . . "

There were two sets of responses to this question.

I prefer the second, as it provides more giggles.

"I want to tell about a time . . . When I thought a rock was a chicken. Then I woke up the next morning, got out of my tent, and couldn't find the chicken. I was confused! Then I realized it was a rock."

"I want to tell about a time. . . If it was 12:30, then the little hand would be at the twelve and the long hand would be at the six. 12:30 is lunch time, and I really love lunch."

Lesson? Kids will always misinterpret what you think is clear. :)

Repeating Myself and Repeating Myself

Today I got upset with a kid because we were ten minutes into a test and no pencil! Ugh! I was all, "I don't mean to be upset, but I'm tired of repeating myself!" A girl says, "My mom says that ALL the time."
Me, "It's annoying, right?!"

It's really annoying.

Especially when he had one and "just lost it because I left it somewhere."

The toilet?

Snow

"I love my mittens! Look, I'm just like a crab!" says the kid walking down the hall as he's pinching everyone.

A New Year!

It's a new school year! Year-round school is weird like that. I know what you're thinking--school is year-round, yet this blog hasn't seen an update since April?! Sorry. It's called life.

Anyway.

My students never cease to amaze me with their skills. I wish I was talking about reading and writing.
